Free Radicals - Gaining control Over our Vitality

The fast-growing life of humans allowing him to thrive for more and in this longing he is acquiring an effortless way of living.
The lifestyle is affecting our population in many ways . One such problem causing factor is building of free radicals into our body.

Talking about the chemistry of radicals , they are atoms or molecules that are highly reactive as their outermost (valence) shell electron is unpaired. And everything in this entire world seeks stability so as it. The radical is in the search of electron that could complete it’s outershell valency . It does so by snatching electrons from the healthy tissues of our body organs and hence making those tissues less effective and dysfunctioning.
There is also a term named oxidative stress which is a synonym to free radicals. Taking an example if the oxygen molecule in the body splits up into a single atom then it would be highly reactive and would seek another atom to bond with, this would create oxidative stress.
CAUSES FOR FREE RADICAL FORMATION.
The free radicals form naturally in the body and they are neutralized by a variety of antioxidants, we intake in our diet. But the problem arises when the quantity of radicals is way more than the antioxidants supplied. The major causes for radical formation are -
• Taking alcohol
• Taking cigarettes
• Eating much junk food
• Cancer causing substances( UV radiation)etc
• Due to normal metabolic system of body
• • ANTIOXIDANTS AND RADICALS
• As we have discussed that radicals are autonomously produced during the process of cellular functions so taking a diet rich in antioxidants could help. Doctor says a colourful diet is all you need to being fit that is blend of Vegetables and fruits .
List of antioxidants added in the diet-
• Vitamin A
• Beta carotene
• Vitamin C
• Vitamin E
Most of the studies have found beta carotene as an excellent source of fighting carcinogens.
In the process of chemical treatment of cancer the cells of cancers are killed but on the other hand the radiation cause more free radicals to form. Hence taking antioxidant suppliments are way better than chemotherapy.
• Pigment like anthocyanin found in eggplant is proved to be aiding from radicals
• Another one like lycopene found in Tomato does the same purpose.
• Minerals like copper (cu) and zinc (zn) provides antioxidant properties.
• Dark chocolate is also a good supplement to be added in diet , it also controls cholesterol .
• Strawberries are rich in antioxidants
• Orange vegetables as they contain the pigment beta carotene which is the best therapy as antioxidant
• Grapes , specially of dark colours contains good amount aiding properties and protect from various inflammation.
• Dark green vegetables which is a hub of various vitamins , minerals.
